Obey files are files which contain instructures / commands to the golden gate. It is good if you want to automate stop / start. Or other procedures.

Let's see how they are configure. Well a simple ASCII file will do:

Obey file

[oracle@edvmr1p0 oggsrc]$ cat julien.oby
info all
stop mgr! <- "The ! indicates that we are sure we want that action and it won't ask us"
info mgr
start mgr
info all

To execute an obey file just login in ggsci and run it :)

Execute Obey file

GGSCI (edvmr1p0) 1> obey julien.oby
GGSCI (edvmr1p0) 2> info all
Program Status Group Lag at Chkpt Time Since Chkpt
MANAGER RUNNING
GGSCI (edvmr1p0) 3> stop mgr!
Sending STOP request to MANAGER ...

GGSCI (edvmr1p0) 4> info mgr
